What condition does the gear need to be in?
Gear should be clean, safe, and serviceable. It does not need to meet current NFPA standards. Retired or used gear that is still functional and in reasonable condition is perfect.
What is the minimum donation?
We require a minimum of 25 complete bunker gear sets per donation. Each set must include at least a turnout coat and pants. Boots, gloves, and helmets are welcome additions.
Who pays for shipping?
We do — 100%. DonateFireGear covers all shipping, pickup, and transportation costs. Your department doesn't spend a dime.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. DonateFireGear Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All gear donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. We provide donation receipts upon request.
Where does the gear go?
Gear is distributed to vetted international partners in developing regions across Africa, South America, Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, and beyond — wherever firefighters lack proper protective equipment.
How do I package the gear?
Stack 25 sets on a standard 48" × 40" pallet, wrap securely with industrial plastic or shrink wrap, and label with "DONATION – FIRE GEAR", your department name, and contact information.
How do I schedule a pickup?
Email us at ivanovski.antonio1@gmail.com or call (973) 641-1582 with your name, department, pickup address, loading dock/forklift availability, and number of sets. We'll handle the rest.
Can I donate gear that's expired by NFPA standards?
Yes! Gear that no longer meets NFPA compliance for U.S. departments can still provide critical protection for firefighters who currently have no gear at all.
Do you accept individual gear items (not full sets)?
We focus on complete sets (coat + pants minimum) in batches of 25 to ensure efficient logistics and maximum impact. Contact us if you have questions about a specific donation.
How do I know my gear made a difference?
We work with vetted international partners and track every shipment. We're happy to share updates on where your donation was delivered upon request.
